In your school

More than a book discussion.

RISE grew out of the questions at the heart of Smart and Dangerous. The story provides one starting point, but participation does not require reading the novel.

Ways to start

  • Use a conversation prompt in a classroom or student group.
  • Explore labels, belonging and exclusion in PSHE or library activities.
  • Invite young people to consider how their own assumptions are formed.
  • Hold a respectful community conversation with staff, families and students.

For organisers

Tell us about your school or group.

We are preparing additional materials and would welcome enquiries from schools, libraries and community organisations interested in the initiative.
